Michael Hall used to ask his dad to drop him off a block from school, so no one would see the car. Four decades later, that boy is one of Morgan Stanley's top advisors, and he still hasn't forgotten what it felt like.
When Michael Hall was thirteen, his parents divorced and the money disappeared.
He started doing the family's tax returns himself. His dad's car had holes in the floorboard, a rubber mat laid down so they wouldn't fall through, and Michael would ask to be let out a block from school so none of the other kids would see it.
Then the person he admired most, his grandfather, lost everything. An advisor moved him out of good investments and into a single bad one. The stress took a visible toll, and Michael watched a man he loved decline far too early. His mother went back to law school and took up cases representing people whose advisors had failed them.
Michael took all of it and built a career on the opposite promise. Today he's a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, one of the firm's most recognized advisors, trusted by his clients through the best and hardest moments of their lives.
"My Catholic clients call me their priest," he says. "My Jewish clients call me their rabbi."
He found Abundance360 after hearing Peter speak at a Morgan Stanley conference around 2015, "talking about AI before anybody knew about AI."
Michael went all in, and it reshaped how he thought about the future. But the part he didn't see coming was personal: a fellow Member named John Henry got him to overhaul his health. He's since dropped his metabolic age to the low 40s at 56, and he'll tell you that the Abundance Community "probably added 15 years to my life."
Now Michael is turning toward the mission that's been forming his whole life. He calls himself "a hypocrite" because he spends his days serving the ultra-wealthy while 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, "which just eats me up."
His Moonshot is a foundation to teach financial literacy to kids, early, before the habits set in. He's already started, running a scholarship in his town that rewards kids for giving back, and having his own children write and deliver the speeches so they'd learn to give back too.
He's in the early days of building it. But, then again, he's been getting ready for it since he was thirteen.
